Thank you for being on my makeup page. I have done some research, studies and also
have seen advices from top makeup artists internationally. There are two parts to this note.
The first one here is mainly about "UNDER EYE DARK CIRCLES", the next one is on "PUFFINESS
AND UNDER EYE BAGS". I had many of them asking me about undereye dark circles and I decided
to find more about them and thought of letting you know too! It is very important to be aware of
what causes the under eye dark circles as there are many types.
So, please be aware that concealers CANNOT cover all types of under eye circles. You have to know
the causes and treatments available for a clearer understanding which may then answer your question on
why certain dark circles cannot be covered no matter how thick your makeup is.
Firstly, I would touch on one by one for you to think
through what type of dark eye circles you may have.
- REDDISH PURPLEY BLUE
CAUSED BY : leaky capillaries. Capillary walls allows haemoglobin to seap out and when the haemoglobin oxidises, it becomes iron oxide rich. SO, what you may be actually seeing is the iron oxide's colour under your eyes. The capillary loops are quite commonly seen on pale skin. Also, as such, the skin under your eye may appear to be quite thin.
Reason?
- May be due to Genetics
- Bad Lifestyle
- Not eating properly
-Not sleeping well
-Not looking after yourself well
-Obsessive stress on skin through UVA
-Skin just starts to break down when you get older.
- Capillaries walls gets a little too leaky when we get older
- Lack of sleep may not be one of the reasons to under eye circles.
- The fact is that when our body is really under stress, our blood is diverted to internal organs as they need them the most. What happens is that the rest of the blood comes less to the skin and our face would then look a lot more paler no matter what skin colour we are, It can often be that that is really the reason as bloosy does not reach the vital organs and not due to LACK OF SLEEP!
2. SHAPE OF YOUR FACE
The second type of dark eye circles could be just due to the face structure of yours!
- The fundamental bone structure
- the physiology of your face
- Thus, as such, the whole area under your eyes may appear to be sunken
- A shadow can be caught and it appears quite dark around that area eventually
3. PIGMENTATION UNDER THE EYES
- They appear to be the browny, dark almost yellowish or greeny tones.
- Recent study has shown that Asian women particularly Indian and Asian are genetically exposed to the darker pigmentation under the eyes.
- They are much less likely to get the fine lines much later in life
- Caucasians much less likely to pigmention but more likely to get fine lines much earlier.
- It is definitely a genetic factor.
If the pigmentation is a real bad problem, an IPL solution would be the best.
YOu have to consult a dermatologist for this so that they can try the IPL solution
which involves the breaking down of pigmentation. ( only in serious cases)
TREATMENTS/INGREDIENTS(eyecream) GOOD FOR UNDER EYE CIRCLES
- Vitamin K in eye creams may help
-Vitamin B in some eye creams.
- Ingredient : Hydroquinone ( get from doctors/dermatologists)
-Adv- Good for pigmentation
-Disadv - Leaves skin vulnerable and kills some cells
-Adv - Good lightning effect on any pigmentation
- could be found on lots of eye creams
One of it would be the : ESSENTIAL-C EYECREAM SPF 15 from MURAD SINGAPORE (BHG COUNTERS)
very good environmental shield and has very good key ingredients. It is protected from UV rays.
- KIWI FRUIT - It is good as it contains Vitamin C
- Products that include any of these ingredients :
- Licorice Extract ---> Inhibits pigmentation by preventing tyrosine activation
- Kojic Acid -----> Very effective at inhibiting melanin production
- Arbutin
So, if you think you want to protect your skin or to reduce pigmentation,
you could go ahead try any of these treatments. Particularly, if you want to protect
your skin, whenever you are out, never get shy to wear your shades. This would ensure
protection from UVA penetration in the eye area. Think more about protecting your skin.
