Review : Lola Cosmetics; there's a little Lola in every woman

Hello to all !
Back with an exciting new brand from L.A which may be hitting Singapore shores soon.
It is none other than "LOLA COSMETICS" from Los Angeles!!
I was lucky enough to get some products from this new cosmetic line by my very good poly mate, Jessica as a gift to me. Their packaging reminds me of the colours associated to the cartoon character , Betty Boop in those days! Hahaha! The packagings was the one that caught my eye at one glance and I really loved the payoff that they gave too!

Just look at how bright they are and they could instantly grab everyone's attention ! My friend got me a foundation primer and a cool lipstick from LOLA ! I have to admit that their products are as promising as their packaging! I was really eager to try these on and I loved both of them ! Let me show you how great they are !

LOLA Foundation primer

This primer contains 30ML of the product in it and its basically named as the REFINING PRIMER. It is a water based primer and it uses the new technology to provide a silky smooth, non-greasy finish ideal for applying foundation. It contains retinoids, antioxidants and peptides which help to firm the skin , promote skin regeneration and deliver oxygen and nutrients to assist in rjuvenating the skin. This could be either used alone or under makeup for a flawless , satin complexion.

My thoughts :I have to let you know that I have a relatively dry skin and sometimes my pores start to show out. After using this primer , i realized that it left my skin feeling so refined, covering my fine lines and pores, giving a satin feel and my skin was just ready to apply foundation. Since this is a water based primer, it will be highly suitable for dry skins though those with normal or combination skin could try this too. I would not advise this for too oily skin as it may be give a too watery effect thereafter. This is my CURRENT FAVOURITE Primer now !

LOLA lipstick in "Grapeyard"

This lipstick is in the shade called "Grapeyard". It has a smooth satin finish base and it it slightly reddish purple. I loved the lipstick the most as it came with a very unique packaging! The moment I opened its cover off, a cute little mirror popped out ! Thats how amazing they have designed the lipstick with a mirror to fit the image of our lips so that it would be easier for us to colour our lips ! It also comes with a very YUMMY smell and it tastes good on the lips.

The colour really attracted me as I loved the satin finish glossy product that came off when I swept it across the back of my hand. Really loved the lipstick and will definitely do a look using these two products I got from LOLA cosmetics.

What can we do about dull, spotty skin?

Hello dearies !
Im here to discuss much about problems which arise out of our normal lifestyle preventing us from getting the radiant skin we yearn for. Many a times, I have heard my friends or even my relatives complain about their skin looking dull and blotchy. They have also asked me what can they do to get a radiant skin without applying much makeup on their face...

Firstly, I would like to let you guys know that WHAT MAY BE PART OF OUR LIFESTYLE MAY ALSO HARM US! What do i mean by this ? Read below to find out the causes of dull , blotchy skin.

Causes
  • Being indoors, for example at home?
WHY? - Being indoors would not mean that we do not come into contact with UV rays as they can actually pass through glass and they are the main reason to ageing skin too. UVA rays dry up our skin and this results in loss of suppleness.

  • Exercising in the park
WHY? - When you are exercising int he park, your skin absorbs so much of everything in your surrounding including the air, Especially, when we are living in Singapore, we come into contact with dust, exhaust fumes and other pollutions. Exposure to these pollutants will cause our skin to become dull and lifeless.

  • Staying up late
WHY? -  When you do not get enough rest, it is said that your blood circulation would be poor , in turn making your skin receive little nourishment and oxygen

Although it may be tough to avoid being contact with pollutant or all those stuffs that further agress our skin, you could get a Face serum which contain SPF qualities to help you restore your skin;s clarity and overall radiance. One of my recommendations would be the range from CLARINS. They have really good skincare products specially designed to restore our skin's clarity.

Also, if you want a radiant skin on those days where your skin looks really dull, I would suggest you go for a really light COMPACT POWDER FOUNDATIONS instead of liquid or cream based ones which would not give a matte finish or would keep your skin hydrated all day long.

I hope this information really helped you guys. Just a little IMPT INFO before the end of this post.
These numbers prove that sun exposure is NOT a laughing matter !
10 - Number of minutes it takes for skin to start to burn in the afternoon sun
7 - Rank of skin cancer on the list of most common cancers in Singapore
25 - Number of years it takes before actual sun damage shows up on skin
90 - Percentage of the symptoms of skin ageing that is caused by UV rays

See ya in my next post guys ! <3

A new attempt ; Seaspray Makeup Look

Hello everyone !
I am really excited to share with you all about a new makeup look I was working on for one of my makeup showcases. The makeup look was basically "Seaspray" which would relate something to an underwater feel or more like the colours I chose to use on the model were very subtle. I just wanted to create the cool blue feeling and where the model poses with elegance. I played with colours like sky blue and a slight tinch of bright 'grass' green at the outer corners to give the definition. It was a new attempt this time and I have to say the photographer did a really good job playing with angles and different lights to get the freshness in the look.
Here are the photos;

Official Makeup Artist for LIONEARL Spring/Summer 2012 Collection

LIONEARL, being a fashion label was first founded by Lionel & Hariz who are designers with different and unique fashion backgrounds. I was recommended to Lionel by a fellow friend to help them out with makeup for their model for their spring/summer collection. I agreed to it as I was excited to be involved in a fashion shoot with fashion designers who had different forms of experiences. It got me all so elated too for a fact that its going to be a fashion label in SINGAPORE! I was first instructed the concept of their S/S collection shoot and the style I should adopt for the makeup. Lionel and the team were kind and welcoming. I was comfortable with the hospitality that they provided me with.

The concept for their S/S collection was something like a tree house structure. I found their creations really unique and I was definitely all geared up to help them out for the makeup. Lionel wanted a very cement like face where the face has to be in white, not really the oprah concept though. The lips needed to be in bright striking pink colour. We set out for the photoshoot quite early in the morning and it was expected to end by late afternoon. I had a great time working with the team and I am glad that the photos turned out to be stunning too ! I really wish Lionel & Hariz all the best for their journey in this line of fashion. Here are some photos captured during the photoshoot I had with them !

The good news is that you guys could expect a really amazing , unique range of outfits when they are launched in April 2012 ! & DID I JUST SAY APRIL 2012???
Yes!, LIONEARL will be launching in April 2012 at Parco Marina Bay, Millenia Walk.
Do stay tuned guys !

Hello everyone !
Back for a review on my haul !
A couple of weeks back, I ordered a brush kit from Sigma and was anxiously waiting
for its arrival. The moment the postman had delivered it to my place, I was so excited to open the parcel up to see my brushes! I am a great fan of brushes as I feel that they play an important role in enhancing our beauty when wearing on makeup. When I opened up the parcel, I just had to capture a shot of it!

I ORDERED THE "EYES KIT"
Basically, this set consists of 7 professional brushes as you can see below!

I wanted to play with the brushes which were mainly for the eyes as I wanted to see a how they can create really amazing works !Let me bring you through the 7 brushes in detail and also my thoughts later on.

EYES KIT - 7 PROFESSIONAL BRUSHES

1.EYE LINER BRUSH - E05

Extra fine tipped brush that delivers a precise, firm and even stroke to line the eyes.

2. SMALL ANGLED BRUSH - E65
This is good for gel or cream eyeliner on the upper and lower lash line.

3. LARGE SHADER BRUSH - E60
Flat shape which is ideal for application of cream products and eyeshadow primers.

4. TAPERED BLENDING - E40
Rounded and tapered top which is designed to apply blend colour along the crease.

5. MEDIUM ANGLED SHADING BRUSH - E70
This is designed to apply highlight shades underneath the eyebrow and on the inner corners.

Gives you a precise application of colour on the crease, outer corner , upper and lower lash line.

7.  EYE SHADING BRUSH - E55
This is sift and dense and can be used to apply pressed or loose eye shadows and pigments.

My thoughts : I hope you guys roughly know what these individual brushes are used for generally. If you ask me, I really got too excited about these brushes from Sigma after I heard raves about it from fellow makeup artists and it just motivated me to get one for myself too. For a start, i wanted to give this EYES KIT a try. I have not used all the brushes in this kit yet but so far have tried out the pencil brush and the eyeshading brush. I have to say they give a really precise application and were so comfortable and soft on my eyes. I would definitely recommend you guys to get some value for money SETS from SIgma to try them out. I really think they are worth my money and I absolutely love the way SIGMA has designed these brushes. I hope to review more on these brushes once I have created a look using any of these brushes. so do stay tuned !  If you have any questions, please do feel free to post your comments and I will try my best to answer them ! Thank you !
